Your taste, to two decimals.

Waverate is a music rating app for iPhone. Score songs and albums from 0.00 to 10.00 in quarter steps, keep them in catalogues, and see exactly where your taste meets your friends'.

Waverate Home screen: day streak, songs rated, and top artists and albums with their average scores.

Forty steps between 0 and 10.

Rate any song or album from 0.00 to 10.00 in quarter steps, so a 9.25 and a 9.75 finally mean different things. Add a review if you want one. Reviews are private unless you choose to share them with friends. Anything you rate 8.00 or higher becomes a favourite.

Your taste, fused with your friends'.

Every friend comes with a Fused Catalogue: the songs and albums you've both rated, your scores side by side, a combined score and a match percentage for each. The closer your scores, the higher it goes. Then it goes the other way, recommending what each of you rated highly that the other hasn't heard.

Questions

How does rating work?

Rate any song or album from 0 to 10 in 0.25 steps (say 7.75 or 9.25), and add a review if you like. Reviews are private unless you choose to share them with friends. Anything you rate 8.0 or higher becomes a favourite, and you can file ratings into catalogues as you go.

What is a Fused Catalogue?

It's what you and a friend have in common. Waverate creates one for every friend: songs and albums you both rated, your scores side by side, a match percentage for each, and recommendations from each other's highest ratings. You get one per friend, so on the free plan they follow the friend limit; Premium makes both unlimited.

What do I get with Premium?

No ads, unlimited custom catalogues (free accounts get 8), and unlimited friends and Fused Catalogues (free accounts get 10, or 20 while you hold a 30-day rating streak). Premium is $1.99 a month in the US.

What is the Indie plan?

A coming-soon plan at $6.99 a month: everything in Premium, plus full-length songs from independent artists who release directly on Waverate. It isn't available to buy yet.

Does Waverate work with Apple Music and Spotify?

Search and music information come from Apple Music, and you can play 30-second previews in the app. Connect Spotify and Waverate can open the song you're on in the Spotify app. Full songs from those services play in their own apps.

Is Waverate on Android?

Waverate is on the App Store for iPhone. Android is in a closed beta; open this page on an Android phone to apply.

Is Waverate a currency or exchange-rate app?

No. Waverate is a music rating app. The name is about rating sound waves, not exchange rates.
